Our Name
A little about our name…
I know the ‘career’ part of the name seems fairly straightforward, but the ‘waymark’ piece may be a bit of a mystery. So let me give you the genesis of the name and this site.
When I was a kid, my dad ran a ministry to reach out to troubled kids (read; kids who were messed up and their parents didn’t know what to do with them, so they sent them to my dad), it was called Waymark. Waymark basically means a guidepost or a ‘mark’ left to help others along the path. For a lot of those kids my dads ministry and our home became that for them.
So fast forward to today. I’ve been working with HR professionals for over 8 years in and around recruitment technology and career development. Recently I found myself counseling more and more of my friends and colleagues in their careers, as well as re-inventing my own career. What I’ve learned through all this and hopefully much more will grow into Career Waymark. Together, we’re going to build a place where all professionals young and old, mid-career and new grad, Gen Y, Gen X, or Boomers can come to learn from each other as we navigate through our working lives. One thing I’ve learned is that no one person has all the answers, but together we have much to teach each other. So come and visit often and together we will find our Way and make our Mark!
