Casual Dress Friday; Internship or Slavery
The other day I stumbled across a blog post that compared internships to slavery. Filled with sarcasm, it seemed like a good fit for our Friday post. The site is called stuffwhitepeoplelike.com and despite it’s name, it is not a racially based site, rather a sarcastic look corporate life from a Caucasian point of view and the irony the inevitably ensues. In most of the world when a person works long hours without pay, it is referred to as “slavery” or “forced labor.” For white people this process is referred to as an internship and is considered an essential stage in white development.
The concept of working for little or no money underneath a superior has been around for centuries in the form of apprenticeship programs. Young people eager to learn a trade would spend time working under a master craftsman to learn a skill that would eventually lead to an increase in material wealth.
Using this logic you would assume that the most sought after internships would be in areas that lead to the greatest financial reward. Young White people, however, prefer internships that put them on the path for careers that will generally result in a DECREASE of the material wealth accumulated by their parents.

Casual Dress Friday: The Escape
So my wife and I were having a conversation yesterday, part of which included her pointing out how isolated I get working from home most of the time. She went on to say that I need to escape more and do more things for me. Not her exact words, but close. All that got me thinking of things I can do to escape the home office or work in general. With two kids, one in diapers, it’s easy to put most or all of my focus on them and not take any time for myself.
My question to you all this week is; what do you do to escape your daily/weekly routine? What things do you do just for you?
As for me, I have a few, but may need to come up with a few more, so let me hear from you. My biggest escape is to go dirt biking with my son and sometimes my brother. It’s great guy time, plus its outdoors, which helps when you’re cooped up all day. One thing I used to do more was play poker with some friends, I really enjoy doing it, but with a bunch of family guys, it doesn’t happen all that often. The good news is my fantasy football league guys are all getting together for a little football and smack talk that will also include pizza, beer and poker. So that’s my weekend. Casual Dress Friday: Enjoy the Randomness
Ah Friday, it’s finally here. Seems like every week by Tuesday or Wednesday, Friday seems worlds away. Then suddenly here we are, staring another weekend in the face. So before you all shuffle off, here’s some random things I came across this week. Some funny, some maddening, and some just random…yeah, that’s how my brain works. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
