beyondlogo.gifThere’s been much written on the state of hiring so far this year.  The general consensus is that things are good, but far from great.  On the whole hiring has not lived up to what many had forecast and with the current economic climate, layoffs are becoming more and more commonplace.

Beyond.com, best known as a job board also does a nice job capturing and accurately reporting on the state of hiring across a variety of industries and they recently released their Milgram Report for June,  The Milgram Report, according to Beyond, ‘highlights key recruitment trends and statistics related to online jobs, resume postings and salary information collected from the Beyond.com’.  You can read the entire report here.

Key statistics in this months Milgram Report are the overall decline in the number of posted positions, which are down over 12% versus this time last year.  However, the number of jobs posted when broken out by experience level shows a sharp increase in the 1-3 year experience category.  So good news for college grads as that category increased over 107% from last year.

Overall, not great news for those in looking to change careers, but if you’ve been watching the market, this shouldn’t be surprising.  With so much uncertainty in the marketplace, we’ll be watching closely.

Until next time…
